I have lived in the Northern Territory since I was a baby. Originally born in New Zealand my parents decided to make Darwin our home.
I began Irish Dancing when I was eight years old with the only Irish Dance school in Darwin. The school was started by two Irish mums that wanted to continue to teach their own children.

I started dancing with Rince na h’Eireann at the age of 16 when Eileen Ashley started the dance school. We danced around Darwin at many displays and especially on St Patrick’s Day.

I spent a year in New Zealand after I completed high school to study, while I was there I joined an Irish dance school and competed in a Feis. I competed in the group dancing competition, we won three gold, two silvers and received a highly commended.

After returning from New Zealand I continued to dance with Rince na h’Eireann and bought back some techniques and dances to teach the young ones up to the adults. I have been helping teach dance since 1998.

During my time with Rince na h’Eireann I have had three children and they have all danced with Rince na h’Eireann (even when I was pregnant with them) Dance is in their blood! ?☘️ One child still dances and will continue to Irish Dance throughout her life like me.

I have completed three grades so far for exams.

Dance has been a very big part of my life and has become part of my culture, like our motto I Dance with my heart.
