ROMOLA SEBASTIANPILLAI OAM

President

My family and I have been in Darwin for 42 years. From the word go I have involved myself in community activities. I joined a few volunteer groups and took the leading role in many of these organizations. Fifteen years ago, I decided to take on a form of dancing for enjoyment. Rince na hÉireann allured me as I went to a boarding school run by Irish Nuns. I enjoyed the music and the dancing of Ireland. It was natural for me to gravitate towards this group. Bridgeen Marron welcomed me with open arms. I started off as a dancer and enjoyed my Saturdays very much.
Time had come for Bridgeen to think of making this school and Association for many reasons. I was very surprised and honoured to be made the President of this newly formed Association in January 2004. There were many lovely ladies who were convinced the school would be in good hands with me and my committee at that time. I am now on my 13th year and hopefully will do so for a few more years.
We have gone from strength to strength. Our greatest asset is our dancers who join our school to dance in a friendly, happy, environment. I thank everyone one who contributed to Rince na hЀireann being the successful school happy school it is now.
